Glentress Masterplan – New Trails & World Champs Update

The Glentress master plan has begun, the 1st of March was supposed to see the closure of the freeride park, Zoom or Bust & the road up to Buzzards Nest but the closing of these has been delayed however, they will close on the 3rd of April & will not reopen. However, non of the current red/black trails will be affected. The exit to Blue Velvet will be altered but the famous Berm Baby Berm will still be in use and open!

New Trails

There will be 3 new sections built with a total distance of 16km. 4km will be a multi-use path then the rest: one green, one blue and one red with black options. There will also be a skills area & taster trails built at the bottom (see overview map below)

World Championships 2023

Glentress will host the XCM, XCR, XCC & XCO races for the 2023 World Championships in Scotland. This will take place on 80% of the current trails which unfortunately probably won’t make the best course as they currently are not technical enough for a World Championships. Unless they spend a lot of money & time which by the looks of the plan they are not going to. It will include very few new sections mainly one black descent down to the start/finish area which will become the skills area after the race so it doesn’t look like it will ever come back to Glentress if the start/finish area is gone!

Fort William will host the DH World Championships on the 3-5th August 2023.
